IKORODU LG: EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN ADESHINA OFFERS HIS VICE PRINCESS FOLASHADE A NEW CAR AT 2023 BUDGET PRESENTATION
Honourable Wasiu Ayodeji Adeshina, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu local government offered the Vice Chairman Ikorodu local government a new car the same day he presented the 2023 budget to his councillors at the legislative chamber of the council to seek their assent.
Adeshina while justifying why this is so said to the press that during the official presentation of official cars to the political office holders, the vice chairman was on assignment.
“Today we believe this is an avenue to present an official car to her. It is an official car and I think she is entitled to it. She is the vice chairman. Whatever privileges accrued to the chairman is also accrued to the vice chairman and other political office holders.
“I want to implore her that the official car this time around, she should use it to get more votes for our party. She should take the car to the wards, meet the people, tell them the reason why they have to vote for APC, why they have to vote for our National leader because it is important Ikorodu score more votes.
Aarebinrin Honourable Dr Princess Folashade Olabanji Oba, National Chairman Association Of Local Government Vice Chairman in Nigeria, Vice chairman Ikorodu LG and Founder Asiwaju Distinguished Ambassadors Movement (ADAM) in her appreciation message having received the new car from her Chairman said to the press;
“I am grateful and thankful for the opportunity to serve. This great country belongs to us all and no one must take our peace from us. No matter what it is that is going on in the country right now, democracy will win. Nigeria will win.
“Regarding the charge by my Chairman to use the car to get more votes for our party, my chairman knows me, car or no car, I will work.
“Whatever it takes, my mandate is to serve the good and great people of these community and beyond. The job of any good government is to make sure the qualities of life and property of people is better.
“So am grateful for the car, it is an enablement.
The leader of the 6th Legislative arm of Ikorodu local government Honourable Adebowale Adebola Ajayi said one of their function as a legislator is to make sure they vet and monitor the activities of the executives through their oversight functions.
What they are using the budget to do in terms of road, infrastructure, projects and programs.
“We were able to see the executive judiciously dispend the projects, we give them 70 percent. This year’s budget, we as legislative will continue to support them with our legislative functions.
“We will make laws that will enable them to increase their IGR. Some of the strides of the chairman include construction of schools, Sabo market road, drainage fixing of I Itunla etc.
“We are going to work on the budget, each department needs to come and defend it. We have to get the supervisors so they too can come to defend it. We hope soonest the budget will be passed”. Adebowale said.
Honourable Adeshina in relation to the budget proposal in an interview with Newsconnect at the event said;
“This year budget would bring additional dividend of democracy to all our people. The budget is a little higher than that of last year. The local government is going to improve the security architecture of Ikorodu. I want all our people to sleep with their two eyes closed. Very soon the local government will launch is on security outfit that will go round the community to ensure peace continue to reign. I also want to explore our people to come.out enmasse to vote.
The total size of 2023 proposed budget is Two Billion, Ten Million, Nine Hundred And Ninety Seven Thousand, Five hundred and sixty naira, Eighty Seven Lobo. (2,010,997,560.87)
Staff salaries: Salaries for the staffs of the local government for the year 2023 will gulp (N230,000,000.00)
